Eateries

Another problem I found when we were first visiting here is finding places to eat! One can always take a run to Paducah KY, but our first stay was in Elizabethtown and it was a 100-mile round trip just to have dinner (well, it was my birthday!). Poor David, driving basically on instinct, got us there though.

I will add restaurants as I can, perhaps even adding those in Paducah, although we have an aversion to "big cities". haha We've frequented a few in the area, and try to as much as we can to keep that local economy going! "Local" can be a very loose term around here, but the drive is beautiful!

Listed in alphabetical order; if they are shown below, we have eaten there and can recommend them, so this list may not be all-inclusive! I'll add/update as much info about each as I can.
Pope County:

Golconda:

• Dari-Barr, Main St, 618-683-4878 (accepts cash or personal check) Open 6 AM - 7 PM daily.
• Diver Down, 217 E Main St, 618-683-3483 (bar on one side, restaurant seating on the other). (accepts cash or credit cards). Also the local "search and rescue". I still need to verify the food-serving hours but the bar is open Tue - Fri: 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM, Sat: 12:00 PM - 12:00 AM, Sun: 12:00 PM - 10:00 PM. 
• Riverview Mansion Hotel (also found under Lodging), 222 S. Columbus Av, 618-683-2196. (accepts cash or credit cards) There is a lounge serving local wines, as well as a restaurant. Open ????
• Sweetwater Saloon, 111 E. Main St, 618-683-9932. (accepts cash or ???) No special restaurant seating, but serve food within the bar. Open ????

Hardin County:

Elizabethtown:

• E'town River Restaurant, 100 Front St, 618-287-2333 (it not only has a river view...it is ON the river!). If boating, there is access on the river. They accept cash or personal check. Closes for winter months.
